The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of materials or components is of great importance in the sphere of
structural and mechanical component analysis. The components are to be tested non-destructively to ensure a

Eddy-current testing (ECT)
Eddy-current testing (ECT) is a non-destructive testing (NDT), in which by means of a probe, a primary alternating magnetic field is generated in an electrically conductive object. The alternating magnetic field induces alternating currents in the object, which in their turn produce secondary fields, which then counteract the primary panel. Amplitude attenuation and phase shift give accurate conclusions.
The NDT of metals or metal surfaces is becoming increasingly important, either it goes about classification of metals (which metals does it go about?) or determination of suitability of the metal surface for a particular type of coating. One more type of application for testing the conductivity is detection of contaminations (solutes) on the metal surface.
