Radiation detector PCE-PVA 100 with a measuring range of 0 ... 12 A DC / USB interface / Data memory for 100 measured characteristics / 4.8" LCD display / Battery operation for approx. 400 measurements / Optionally with ISO calibration certificate

The radiation detector is a useful tool to examine solar cells for their characteristics. With a DC voltage range of 0… 60V and a DC current range of 0… 12 A, the photovoltaic meter covers a large number of solar modules. The determined characteristic curves are saved directly on the solar module tester. Up to 100 measurements can be stored in the data memory of the photovoltaic meter. The stored measured values can then be read out and further processed on a PC with the associated software. In addition, it is possible to operate the photovoltaic meter completely via the software.

The radiation detector has two different measuring functions for determining the characteristics of a solar module. In the automatic mode, the characteristic curve is created with automatic parameters by the photovoltaic meter. This gives the operator a first impression of the state of the solar module. In manual mode, the start and end of the current value can be set on the photovoltaic meter. If the area of the solar module and the power of the incoming radiation are stored in W/m², the photovoltaic meter can calculate the efficiency and the fill factor of the cell. Another measuring function with the solar module tester is the one-point measurement. A specific current can be controlled and checked by the photovoltaic meter.

The LCD display of the radiation detector has a size of 4.8“. This means that the characteristic curve and all measured values can be read off at the same time. In order to analyze the characteristic curve better, each individual measuring point on the photovoltaic meter can be approached. For a different view of the X and Y axes, you can switch between current, voltage and power by pressing a button on the photovoltaic meter.

Because of its many different functions, the radiation detector is the ideal measuring device to examine solar modules for their effectiveness. The radiation detector is therefore used in photovoltaic systems and research facilities for the further development of solar modules. The radiation detector can optionally be equipped with an ISO calibration certificate.

Radiation detector PCE-SPM 1 with integrated sensor, determines the energy yield of solar systems /
also serves to find optimal solar locations for new systems

The radiation detector for solar energy is the ideal handheld test device for solar engineers, architects and hobby solar technicians. With this solar measuring device you can determine the solar power. This enables a statement to be made about the composition and design of a photovoltaic system. The light intensity is measured using a monocrystalline silicon solar cell. The processor integrated in the solar measuring device ensures automatic correction to maintain the basic accuracy after each device has been calibrated in the solar simulator. The most important parameter P tot (in W/m²) can be read directly on the display.

The data contained in the internal memory (32,000 measured values) can be transferred to the serial interface of a PC using the software. This solar meter was also designed for outdoor use and has a weatherproof plastic housing. Its compact dimensions allow comfortable one-hand operation.

1. Solar direct measurement on site
The solar measuring device can be used to measure the energy directly at a defined position. These measured values can include can be used to check the efficiency of PV modules or solar thermal systems.

2. Simulation of temperature, power, voltage and current of PV modules
Attention: only possible in combination with the multimeter we offer.

3. Long term measurements
The solar measuring device is equipped with an internal data logger for measurements over longer periods of time.

Solar radiation
The radiation detector detects the full solar radiation, i.e. both the direct radiation and the diffuse solar radiation of the atmosphere. Most of the energy in solar radiation that is reflected on the surface of the earth is in the infrared visible strip of the spectrum, as ultraviolet radiation is absorbed by the atmosphere. The solar radiation varies over the year because the angle of the incident light rays is larger in summer than in winter and the rays are more perpendicular in summer.
