A closing force measuring device is a force gauge designed to measure forces on power-operated doors or similar components. For example, the company DriveTest GmbH, founded in 1998, has specialized in closing force sensors for measurements on power-operated doors. DriveTest GmbH has been part of the PCE Instruments group of companies since 2022.
To ensure that accidents with automatic doors do not lead to serious injuries, limit values for the closing forces have been set. Special test standards define where and how the occurring forces are to be checked with the closing force measuring device. Many closing force transducers are directly adapted to specific applications, e.g. for measuring on doors or sliding windows of vehicles, on elevator doors or on power-operated doors or gates on buildings.
The closing force measuring device is required both to set the closing forces during installation and to check the forces during periodic inspections. Regular inspections are mandatory for many buildings and for passenger transport vehicles.
Closing force transducers are also used to measure the clamping forces on machine gripping and holding devices. A suitable closing force measuring device provides the user with as much support as possible during the measurements. Additional software for the closing force transducer facilitates the evaluation and documentation of the measurement results
