This Spectrophotometer is especially designed for meat, food, vegetables or wet products testing. Only the aperture comes into contact with the surfaces to be measured. So it is guaranteed that no liquids can cause cross contamination while doing the measurement. The Spectrophotometer simulates to see surfaces like with human eyes. Used mainly in the medical and food industry the color test instrument in addition meets all requirements for plastics surface measurements (PP, PE, PET, ABS, EVA) and also powders. The color meter is delivered manufacturer calibrated, but can optionally be certified to ISO standards.

Especially in the paper, textile, food and plastics industries a precise color comparison is of great importance. Our spectrophotometers are used to continuously control the color quality and help you to make color measurements more efficiently. Application of spectrophotometers makes significant quality improvements as well as cost and time savings possible.
In the food industry, spectrophotometers are used not only for color measurements on packaging, but also for determining the color of a beverage, sauce or fruit. Food manufacturers are usually subject to strict quality controls. To comply with these standards, PCE Instruments' spectrophotometers can be used. In addition, color plays a major role in the perception of a particular flavor of food – as it is generally known, the eye eats together as well.
With our spectrophotometers, the colors of various textiles such as yarn, felt, fleece, leather, fibers and many other materials can be determined precisely. PCE Instruments offers handy spectrophotometers that allow color controls to be performed at any point of the manufacturing process. Due to the fast color comparison of our flexible spectrophotometers, time-effective quality control during process monitoring is possible.
One of the most important application fields for spectrophotometers is the paper industry, therefore our measuring instruments for paper and cardboard manufacturers are already indispensable for the manufacturers. Printing houses, publishers and advertising agencies use our spectrophotometers to ensure or check the color quality of magazines, brochures or banners. Also, to determine the whiteness, i.e. reflectivity, for example, of paper for the white light our spectrophotometers are used.
Our spectrophotometers are differentiated by the geometry type: either the spherical geometry (d / 8 °) or the angular geometry (45 ° / 0 °), whereby the application area is the decisive criterion for selecting the right one.
For all applications in which the color / paint color is to be measured independently of the surface condition of the sample, a spectral photometer with the spherical geometry (d / 8 °) is used. Especially for the measurements on textiles, rough textured plastics or even high-gloss samples, you should opt for a spectrophotometer with spherical geometry (d / 8 °), since material structures and gloss differences do not influence the measured value.
In contrast to the spherical geometry, spectrophotometers with angular geometry (45 ° / 0 °) can differentiate matt from glossy color samples and are particularly well suited for slightly structured and smooth surfaces. Thus, if the visual impression matters, spectrophotometers with angular geometry (45 ° / 0 °) are used and are frequently applied for color comparison measurements of different batches or for samples with different structures.
The most important parameters when selecting a spectrophotometer are: the wavelength range, the wavelength interval, the reproducibility, the light type, the color spaces, the measuring aperture and the integrated sphere size (integrating sphere).
Our spectrophotometers offer excellent measurement results in a wavelength range between 400 - 700 nm, which is usually measured in 10 nm increments. The PCE Instruments spectrophotometers have a reproducibility or repeatability of ΔE * ≤0.03, ΔE * ≤0.04, ΔE * ≤0.05 or ΔE * ≤0.06 and, depending on the instrument, an accuracy of ΔE * ≤0 , 15 to ΔE * ≤0.4. Standard illuminants such as D65, A, C, D50, D55, D75, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12 and color spaces such as CIE LAB, XYZ, Yxy, LCh, CIE LUV, LAB & WI & YI, Hunter LAB are supported by our spectrophotometers. With different orifices, the measuring apertures of the spectrophotometers can vary between 4 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm and at the same time support the SCI and SCE methods. In addition, our product range includes spectrophotometers with an integrated sphere size (integrating sphere) of Ø 48 mm or Ø 58 mm.
To analyze and manage your measurement results in detail, the supplied software is an important component of our spectrophotometer. The software enables a comprehensive spectral analysis directly in the workplace and thus, it is practically possible to operate the spectrophotometer via the software. Therefore, it is possible to perform the measuring process directly on the computer and to display the results directly in a tabular form on the screen.
Nonetheless, the measurements can be performed even there, where no computer is available. The measurement results are stored in the internal memory and can be evaluated later. This is especially important when using the spectrophotometer for quality checks, as these usually take place directly at the production site. Depending on the application, three different operating modes can be selected in the software: the basic mode, the quality control mode and the statistics mode.
