The Electrical Tester combines an optical power meter (OPM), an optical light source and a red light source (VFL) in a compact measuring instrument for testing fibre optic connections. As a versatile fibre optic tester, it enables measurement of optical power, determination of light attenuation and quick localisation of fault points and fibre breaks in fibre optic cables. The Electrical Tester is suitable for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting in fibre optic networks.

The integrated optical power meter (OPM) supports wavelengths from 850 to 1650 nm (850, 980, 1270, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1577, 1625 and 1650 nm) and covers a measuring range from -70 to +10 dBm. Using the REF function, a reference value can be stored in order to determine relative power and insertion loss reliably.

The optical light source (Light Source) operates at 1310 and 1550 nm and is ideally suited for attenuation measurements on single-mode fibre optics. Thanks to the combined OPM and light source function, measurements can be carried out particularly conveniently with the Electrical Tester. Modulation frequencies of 270, 1000 and 2000 Hz are also available.

For quick troubleshooting, the Electrical Tester has an integrated red light source (RL/VFL) with a wavelength of 650 nm. Continuous light or flashing mode makes fibre breaks, bends and faulty plug connections visible along the fibre optic cable.

The connections of the Electrical Tester for OPM, light source and VFL are compatible with FC, SC and ST connectors and protected against contamination by protective caps. The integrated rechargeable battery is conveniently charged via a USB Type-C charging interface. A battery level indicator and the switchable automatic shut-off after 30 minutes of inactivity ensure energy-efficient operation.

The Electrical Tester is ideal for service and maintenance work on FTTH, telecommunications and data networks, as well as for use by network technicians, electrical installers and service technicians.
