Surface Testing

PCE Instruments offers a wide range of devices used to test different qualities and characteristics of surfaces. A coating thickness gauge determines the thickness of paint, film or corrosion by means of magnetic induction, eddy current or ultrasound principles. A thickness meter is an essential quality assurance tool when anodizing, galvanizing and applying zinc coating to metallic surfaces. Another surface testing tool used in quality control applications is a color meter. A colorimeter measures the color of a surface without any contact with the object being measured. An infrared thermometer measures the surface temperature of an object, again without any contact. Finally, a gloss meter records the reflection of emitted light on surfaces, measuring finishes from matte to high gloss.

PCE-FD 20 is a portable ultrasonic tester or ultrasonic thickness gauge with a large LCD screen that displays A-scan maps of ultrasonic signals as well as B-scan cross sections.
