More Information about the Chimney Cameras

A chimney camera is a special design of an endoscope, and presents an optical inspection tool for cavities or hard-to-reach areas. The chimney camera is used especially for the inspection of the chimneys in order to detect the damaged areas, leaks etc. The problems with chimneys are often caused by the clogging, in the old pipes, cracks may occur, which leads to the damage as well.

With the help of the chimney camera, there is no need to release the affected chimney first and then disassemble it before it can be examined. The chimney camera has a camera head attached to a push cable. The camera head is very bright and therefore it is possible to transfer a very good picture from the observed areas. Likewise, chimney cameras are equipped with a comparatively large camera sensor. These CMOS sensors are very sensitive to light and thus make a good image in the low-light conditions. Due to the larger camera sensor, chimney cameras can often achieve a higher resolution than normal inspection endoscopes.

Of course, chimney cameras are completely waterproof due to the intended application purpose and some models are also highly IP-protected. The cameras are protected by the protective covers against scratches and other damages. A nano-coating of the protective cover ensures that dirt and moisture immediately roll off, so that the picture taken by the chimney camera is not spoilt.

For centering in the drains, a centering brush can be installed on the camera head of the chimney camera. Furthermore, this brush ensures that if there are contaminants in the pipe, they do not gather in front of the camera and thus complicate a chimney inspection.

The chimney cameras have a fiber optic push cable / push rod that can be moved quite well over longer distances. The quasi-rigid design makes the working process with the chimney camera trouble-free.

The recorded images and videos can be stored by the chimney camera in the central unit and transferred to a PC or laptop for further analysis or documentation. Afterwards, a very accurate, punctiform repair of the chimney can be carried out.

When purchasing the chimney camera, you should be sure about the crucial points, because the choice of the appropriate model is very important for obtaining good results. It is necessary to consider when, how often and for which purpose the chimney camera is needed. If the application areas are clear, then it can be decided which size, performance and settings the new chimney camera must have.

The chimney cameras are available in different versions. There are chimney cameras, which have only a very rigid field of view. Here, it is only possible to inspect the chimneys at a 0 ° angle forward. But there are also chimney cameras, on which the front camera can be moved 360 ° with the help of the motors. With this chimney camera, an all-round inspection of the chimney is possible.

Furthermore, the offered chimney cameras have a length measuring device. This meter counting function helps the inspector find the exact point of any damage in the pipes and chimneys. In addition, for some chimney cameras, a locator is optionally available. This locator detects the position of the camera head via a radio signal and, thus, determines the exact position. This optionally available locator is even capable of measuring the depth of the camera head.
