The Turbidity Meter is used for continuous online monitoring of water turbidity in drinking water systems, filtration systems and direct drinking water systems. In addition, the device is also suitable for use in sea water or saline media (salt water). It is used for reliable monitoring of water quality after treatment, filtration and disinfection processes in a wide range of applications.
The Turbidity Meter operates using the nephelometric 90° scattered light method. A tungsten lamp emits light into the water sample, which is scattered by suspended particles. A silicon sensor detects the scattered light at a 90° angle and determines the turbidity in NTU from this. The Turbidity Meter has a measuring range of 0.001 ... 100 NTU and enables high-resolution detection of even very low turbidity values. Measurement is continuous in online operation and the measured values are transmitted cyclically to an external evaluation system via the RS485 Modbus interface.
Calibration of the Turbidity Meter is software-based via the RS485 Modbus interface. First, the zero point is set using pure water (0 NTU), after which a standard solution is used for adjustment.
The Turbidity Meter is characterised by repeatability of ±2% and protection rating IP65. It is designed for easy installation and low maintenance requirements. The flow rate is 300 ... 700 ml/min. The connections are 1/2 inch NPT (outlet) and 1/4 inch NPT (inlet and overflow), and the power supply is 12V DC.
This makes the device suitable for reliable and continuous monitoring of water quality in modern water treatment, environmental and process systems – both in fresh water and in sea water/salt water applications.
