Type of videoscope camera cable
A rigid engine videoscope cable usually has a rather small diameter to allow the inspection of very confined spaces. Most industrial rigid videoscopes are analogue, which means that users cannot record and process images and videos without using a special adaptor.
If you still want to process your images and videos, you can purchase an adaptor for your videoscope separately.
Depending on your application, you can choose a videoscope with a rigid or flexible videoscope cable. Flexible cables are available with 2- or 4-way articulating systems. An articulation system enables you to move the videoscope camera head in different directions and angles up to 360 °. Through flexible videoscope cables, images are transferred to the handheld device via a glass fibre bundle or via the camera which is located in the cable. The latter particularly applies to the modern digital videoscopes offered by PCE Instruments. PCE’s flexible videoscope camera cables are available in many different lengths and diameters, which makes our videoscopes suitable for nearly any application.
Needed length / diameter of videoscope camera cable
As mentioned before, PCE’s flexible videoscope camera cables are available in many different lengths and diameters to suit your specific application. Generally, the needed videoscope cable diameter is determined by measuring the openings of the pipes, engines, machine components, etc. to be inspected. The cable length obviously should not be too short. You may want to use your industrial videoscope for several applications which can sometimes mean that you need several cables with different lengths and diameters.
In this case, we recommend you to buy an engine videoscope that accommodates multiple cable diameters and lengths. These have the huge benefit of relatively low follow-up costs as you will not need to buy new cables with different lengths and diameters later on.
Memory for images and videos
Before purchasing a videoscope, make sure to take into consideration if you need the function of recording and storing images and videos of your inspection. Lots of modern digital videoscopes come with a removable SD card that makes it easy to download your images and videos and view them on your computer. Some of PCE Instruments’ videoscope cameras come or are available with an analytical software to evaluate your results. For example, these softwares are very helpful when you want to document the progress of cracks or fractures in your objects of inspection.
