  Infrared People Counting

Through the use of personal detection devices, it's possible to perform person counts or to monitor the occupancy in rooms or areas. With the new Gazelle sensors from Irisys not only people can be captured indoors and outdoors, they also recognize the exact number.

On the basis of an infrared image, the recognition and counting of the people are carried out by heat signature. The processing of the heat signatures takes place in the sensor, the output of information via an IP interface or a relay. In this case, no real people image are transmitted, but only the number of those present. Privacy and data protection thus remain guaranteed. The sensor as part of the building automation, for example, the lighting in real-time control, ventilation and heating of a room can be regulated according to the number of people.

The detection zone of the compact ceiling mounts device is limited to a well-defined area, e.g. a passageway area. Using the associated software, different zones in the room or even in corridors can be set exactly.PCE Instruments advises markets and presents the devices to the customer in situ, within Europe.

  IRC 5706-NW Gazelle IP Counter 60° Master Unit

The IRC5706-NW Gazelle series people counters are infrared-based and detect people through your heat emission as you enter the sensor panel. A counting process is triggered when one of the up to 16 freely generated counting lines is exceeded.

An integrated web server makes it possible to configure the sensor from the browser as well and to query the acquired data directly via the network.

Furthermore, a fully English-language API is provided for many systems. This is the master unit to which up to 8 node units can be connected. The node units have the same technical data, but not an integrated web server.

The sensors are designed for ceiling mounting. Due to its it's 60 ° opening angle, the sensor covers an area of 1.97m² up to 4.52m² depending on the mounting height (At 3.5m mounting height, for example, an area of 3.25mx 3.25m).

For larger ceiling heights, all sensors are also available with 40 ° and 20 ° opening angle.

The people counters recognize people and visitors based on your thermal image. This makes the people counter independent of the lighting conditions and can be used in areas and buildings that are not illuminated at night as well as during the day.

By recognizing people for their thermal image, the privacy of visitors is largely protected because the people counters do not recognize faces. The meter readings of the customer counter can be queried via web browser. The people counters have their own server on which the measurement data is stored.

Due to the simple installation, the sensors can be used quickly and easily in department stores, supermarkets, museums, etc. Similar to a smoke detector, the passenger counter is mounted to the ceiling and simply connected to the existing infrastructure via Ethernet cable. In addition to the count, the Gazelle series people counters offer further possibilities for analyzing customer flow and the movement behavior of people. For example, with the counter, the queues at checkouts can also be analyzed.

The exact knowledge of the number of visitors /customers in your shop will put you in the position to reliably evaluate the yield per customer.

Also, the IRC5716-NW captures, identically to the IRC5706-NW, people based on their thermal emission.

In addition,it's equipped with a real-time camera, with the aid of which the sensor can control the detection area and, in conjunction with the optional "Validation Tool" software, can also perform an optical counting control.   IRC3110 Outdoor Counter 60° IP Master Unit

IRC3110 sensors are designed for outdoor use, e.g. for measuring the pedestrian frequency or for visitor counting. For this reason, the people counter is installed in a powder coated housing according to IP66 standard.

It is identical to the IRC5706-NW and detects people based on their heat emission. The counting process is triggered when one of the up to 16 freely-generated counting lines is exceeded.

  Supply voltage

The Gazelle Sensor Series (IRC-5706, IRC 5716) can be powered directly via screw terminals (12-28 VDC) or via PoE (IEEE 802.3af standard).

Sensors of the 3000 series can also be supplied directly via screw terminals with voltage (12-28 VDC) or via Irisys own 24V POE adapter (not standard POE 48V!)

These are available as a 4-port IWC3060 or as a 1-port adapter IWC3065.

The sensors of the 3000 series are not PoE (IEEE standard 802.3af) compliant.

The Estate Manager allows configuration of any connected device, it also gives you the ability to set various automatic schedules for backups, firmware updates, and downloads, and to manage the daily reporting of the entire meter network. (E,g: if sensors are switched off or the connection to the database has been disconnected.)


  Functionality

The people counter is mounted above a certain area. Input and output ranges are particularly well suited.

In department stores, areas of escalators are particularly suitable for counting the number of people on each floor.

The counter detects via thermal image the temperature difference between the floor and a person. The people counter measures this temperature difference and use it as the basis of the people count.

This has the advantage that the brightness in the environment does not affect the people counter. Two freely adjustable lines define entry and exit areas for the people counter. According to the detected passage direction of the people counter is increased or decreased. This makes it always possible to count the exact number of people. By using several people counters, for example, the visitors can be steered within a building to prevent, for example, too long queues in the checkout area.

Especially in the staircase or entrance areas, it can lead to problems in people counting. The people counter also allows accurate and accurate counting of people. The individually formable counting lines make this possible.
