Electrical geiger counter for gamma rays in modern wristwatch design
The geiger counter PM1208M combines a geiger counter for gamma rays with the design and functionality of a modern wrist watch and was designed for the continuous monitoring of the environmental radiation level. The degree of radiation is shown on the display of the geiger counter as dose equivalent and dose equivalent rate. If the adjusted threshold levels are exceeded, the geiger counter gives out an acoustic signal. The high quality quartz movement guarantees high reliability and precision of the clock. Other common functions of an electrical watch are shown on the LC-display as well (e.g. calendar, alarm clock...). The internal memory of the geiger counter can store up to 500 measurements which can also be transferred to a PC via infrared connection. The power is supplied by a 3V CR 2032 battery which provides about one year of continuous operation. Due to the modern steel housing, the geiger counter is very robust and water resistant up to a depth of 100 meters. The electro-luminescent back-light of the digital display allows the geiger counter to be operated in the dark. The PM1208M is essential for professionals working with radiation sources as well as for anyone concerned with radio-ecological issues.
