The condition monitoring flaw detector is used in non-destructive material testing. With the eddy current testing device, surface defects and near-surface defects can be made visible. Eddy current testing is an electrical method for testing electrically conductive materials. In the eddy current test, a probe charged with alternating voltage is placed on an electrically conductive test piece. The magnetic field lines generated perpendicular to the workpiece surface induce circular eddy currents close to the surface, creating secondary magnetic fields in the test piece. The secondary fields counteract the primary fields and measurably change them in terms of amplitude and phase. Inhomogeneities and workpiece defects change the eddy current curves and the permeability of the material and thus also the secondary fields. In this way, defects close to the surface can be located and classified.
The condition monitoring flaw detector is designed for corresponding NDT material tests and can also be used for conductivity measurement and layer thickness determination.
The ergonomic design of the condition monitoring flaw detector, a weight of less than 1 kg, a battery life of approx. 8 hours, a large selection of probes to cover a wide frequency range up to 3.5 MHz, as well as software for generating reports are good prerequisites for effective and pleasant work.
The condition monitoring flaw detector is therefore ideally suited for non-destructive material testing in the aerospace sector for component testing of e.g. turbine blades or bores, for welding seam testing and crack testing, for pipeline and container testing in the chemical, oil and gas industry or in the field of mechanical engineering for quality control of semi-finished products, sheet, strip products or individual components. The testing of material properties is also possible via a microstructure comparison, so that checks for mix-ups can also be carried out.
