Noise Dose Meter / Sound Dose Meter - PCE-430
PCE-430 is a Noise Dose Meter / Sound Dose Meter that meets the requirements of IEC 60651:1979, IEC 60804:2000, IEC 61672-1:2013, ANSI S1.4-1983 and ANSI S1.43-1997. This portable high-accuracy sound level meter has a large, easy-to-read illuminated LCD screen that displays the sound pressure level (SPL) numerically and graphically in real time. Thanks to octave band filtering, even the slightest difference in frequency is detected.
The handheld meter also functions as a data logger, recording measurements at an adjustable interval from 1 s ... 24 h and storing the recorded measurement data on a micro SD card. The SD card can be removed from the Noise Dose Meter / Sound Dose Meter and inserted into the SD card reader of a PC. Alternatively, the decibel meter can be connected directly to a PC via USB. The provided PC-compatible software allows for quick and easy data analysis.
This device measures from 22 ... 136 dB(A) at a frequency of 3 Hz ... 20 kHz. The Noise Dose Meter / Sound Dose Meter features A, B, C and Z frequency weightings as well as fast, slow and impulse time weightings. This decibel meter is commonly used by professionals to ensure compliance with environmental noise regulations and workplace noise permissible exposure limits. It is also ideal for airport and air force base noise monitoring programs.
Evaluate the health level
To objectively evaluate the “health level” of the environment, it is necessary to measure a few parameters, among which the most important one is the noise level. The class I sound level meter is a tool that reacts to noise in the same way as the human ear, but is capable of measuring the intensity of the noise very accurately and precisely. Noise may be a very annoying and stress-causing factor, and thus its measurement and regulation are tasks of the employer in the office and at the factory, of construction workers or people responsible for entertainment arrangements, and of staff in hospitals and schools, at airports and train stations. The list may be continued indefinitely. There are strict sanitary norms, since maintaining the noise level is similar to maintaining hygiene, and deviations from these official norms must be avoided because of the long list of aggravating consequences and health damage that inevitably follow in cases of non-compliance with the rules.
Noise may have different origins and different durations, and depending on the frequency, it may be perceived differently by the unprotected human ear. The class I sound level meter is able to provide the operator with the full spectrum of information about what type of noise occurs and for how long. Due to the data-logging function, this first-class noise-measuring device can gather information continuously. This helps to get a clear picture of the noise environment at a particular location during longer periods, which may be very helpful, for example, when planning new projects and choosing locations for schools, hospitals, new residential districts, etc. The sound meter is calibrated, as a rule, before its application, and the results that it provides are thus reliable and repeatable.
Noise measurement
The class I sound level meter is perfect for noise measurement in the workplace as well as in the open air. Personal perception may be an indication that measurements should be carried out, but measurements carried out by the portable and accurate sound meter are definitely an indication that exact steps should be taken to improve the noise situation at a particular location. If the sound meter gives a warning indication or if it is clear after processing the data from long-term continuous monitoring that deviations from the norms occur, noise limits are often exceeded, or the noise intensity is clearly higher than the values mentioned in the regulations, it is a good enough reason to introduce protective clothing and accessories for the workers, to reduce and adjust the time of exposure to noise, to take measures to reduce traffic noise pollution in certain areas, to stop using equipment and machines causing too much noise and vibration, and to introduce rules of behavior in certain premises, etc.
Application of reliable equipment, such as a class 1 sound level meter, for sure pays off, since instead of the violations and problems that noise pollution always brings, a healthy and productive environment may be created easily.
